Submission Guidelines
Firstly, we invite contributions that explore prevalent ideas in Islamic finance literature and examine how they may be influenced by the widespread adoption of Al technology.
The conference is particularly interested in submissions that analyse how rule-driven principles of Islamic finance may be affected by the speed and complexity of technological change.
Secondly, we seek scholarly work on the anticipated financial disruptions and their potential impact on existing Islamic finance practices. Submissions that map conventional financial industry practices and products to their Islamic finance counterparts are especially welcome.
Additionally, we encourage research on how Al could facilitate the implementation of original risk-sharing Islamic finance instruments that have historically struggled to emerge due to adverse selection and moral hazard.
Thirdly, the conference welcomes contributions in Islamic finance pedagogy. Educators in the field are encouraged to submit articles and case studies that offer insights into enhancing the teaching of Islamic finance. Of particular interest are submissions that highlight effective instructional strategies in the midst of rapid technological advancements.
Some of the topics on the intersection of Al and Islamic Finance that we would encourage include the following:
- Al, cryptocurrency, and Islamic perspective on money
- The issue of autonomous Al agents from an Islamic perspective
- The impact of speed of change on the implementation of Islamic financial rules
- Al, consciousness and higher purpose of Islamic law
While the conference centres on the above-mentioned themes, it also welcomes a broad range of scholarly research articles in the following areas:
- Theoretical and empirical research on Islamic banking
- Islamic capital markets (Sukuk and Equities)
- Islamic insurance
- Islamic wealth management and investment
- Islamic finance and sustainability
All submissions will be reviewed based on originality, rigour, and relevance to the conference theme. All accepted manuscripts will be presented at the conference.
We would also be accepting articles in the developmental track.
